The SM River Rats 12U Red team demonstrated both team work and determination in the EBL DIA Regional Tournament this past weekend! They started the tournament red hot on day one with a 9-0 win vs. Freedom Baseball then a 5-0 win vs. Mass Hurricanes!

Eli Turner went the distance vs. Freedom Baseball hurling 4 innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 4. In game two vs. Mass Hurricanes, Zach Kassim and Brayden Baron combined for a shutout allowing just 1 hit and no runs. Key offensive players on day one were Ben Gill, Henry Kenniston and Tyler Sevigny.

On day two, the SM River Rats played a tough Northeast Hurricanes Blue team. Lefty Jake Fish threw very well going 5 innings allowing just 3 runs and striking out 4 batters. Brady Adams was the lone repeat hitter for the SM River Rats Ethan Pelletier, Scott Long also had key hits for the game.

The Championship game featured the MWS Devils Black against the SM River Rats. This game was back and forth with lead changes often! A key highlight in the early innings was a solo blast from SM River Rats Sevigny. Drew Lariviere (Championship Game MVP) came into relief and pitched 4.2 innings of 2 hit ball along with allowing just 1 run. The defensive play of the game was in the top of the 6th when the Devils had bases loaded and hit a line drive to left to score 1 with the runner from 2nd attempting to score too. Left fielder Scott Robitaille throws a strike to catcher Ethan Pelletier nabbing the runner at the plate to keep the SM River Rats within run. The SM River Rats tie it up in the bottom of the 6th to send the game to extra innings. The Devils get 1 run in the top of the 7th (with speed up rules, bases loaded 1 out).  This sets the stage for Brady Adams (All Tournament Selection) who led off the bottom of the 7th with a Grand Slam to give the SM River Rats an 11-8 victory!
