The Mass Hurricanes 15u Blue team went 6 - 0 in the NEBC Summer Solstice 15u Tournament, on their way to collecting their first championship of the 2019 baseball season. The Hurricanes beat the Boston Prospects, Hurricanes Salisbury, MWS Devils, Mass Hurricanes Red, East Coast Eagles White and GBG Hawks Blue during the run to the championship, outscoring their opponents 63 - 16 in those games. On the mound, Sam Palmer collected two wins, including a no hit performance in the first playoff game. Brett Nickerson, Matt Donahue, Dan Clancy and Anthony Sacchetti also picked up wins on the mound (Sacchetti’s in the championship game). At the plate, the Hurricanes were led by a well balanced offensive attack. Sam Palmer was 8 for 17 with 5 RBI and 7 runs scored. Brett Nickerson was 4 for 12 for the tournament with 6 RBI (including the game winning RBI in the championship game) and 2 extra base hits. Dan Clancy was 4 for 14 with 7 RBI and 9 runs scored. Jeremy Rotenberg was 4 for 11 with 4 RBI. Defensively, Shawn Legere played a flawless shortstop, making some huge plays throughout the tournament. The 6 - 0 tournament record brings the Mass Hurricanes 15u Blue team’s record to 11 - 1 for the season, as they head to Gettysburg College this weekend to play in the Future Starz Showcase.
